Could you help me understand a few things about homemade, raw, natural skin care?

Posted by admin on Oct 20, 2009

I recently have moved to a new apartment. The dry heat is brutal. My skin has been drying up. I got a book at Barnes and Noble on homemade skin care with all raw or natural ingredients. Some of it is hard to understand. Does anyone know a good source where I can buy these natural ingredients, like vitamin ester C, alph lipoic acide, DMAE, cold pressed carrier oils, beeswax, quality essential oils and flower waters??? I am hoping to save some money. Thanks!!

Emily’s Oils & Essentials is a supplier of Aromatherapy products. The C, acid and DMAE aren’t available from Emily’s Oils, the other items that you are looking for are.

I formation and advice is available at eoils.net. You can use the interactive search engine to identify products that are appropriate for your needs.

Is the Physicians Formula Organic make up brand good to use?

Posted by admin on Oct 20, 2009

Is the Physicians Formula Organic make up brand good to use? I have acne and I was wondering if it would affect it in any way? Is it worth the price to buy this brand? Also I wear make up almost everyday… would this be okay to use on a daily basis? Please and thank you :]

totally!

it’s organic for one and not tested on animals! you can use this makeup like any ordinary makeup.

it shouldn’t affect your acne too much since it has all natural ingredients.

looking for proper doses of vit c for skin care. I have acne roscea and am prone to infection which has caused tissue damage. I know that vit c is very good for skin care but how much with my condition should I take. help!

500 mg 2-3 times a day covers most problems. It is available also in a cream which can get good skin results.
Or try mixing contents of a b-complex capsule in a teaspoonful of moisturizing lotion and apply that daily.

Best places to buy organic make up?

Posted by admin on Oct 13, 2009

Where are the best places to buy organic/natural make up. I have a chemical allergy and can’t take normal make up like Cover Girl, Mac, ect. My dermatologist told me to buy natural organic make up but I can’t seem to find any places that sell it around here.
I live in Canada. I can buy online if needed.

idk where here is but in nj you can buy it at cvs, target, walmart, basically anywhere…but i only know of one brand. Its Physicians Formula

Dogs Skin is Dry. Is there any natural treatment available?

Posted by admin on Oct 13, 2009

I have a short haired dog. She is constantly itching and the vet has confirmed that she doesn’t have fleas or mange. I only bathe her when necessary. She is getting the fish oils in her food everyday. Is there anything I can apply directly to her skin?

If she’s itching, she has allergies. How long has this been going on? Have you changed detergents, sheets, or bedding recently? It might be environmental. What food do you feed her? A lot of dogs tend to be allergic to grains and certain proteins like chicken. You can do a food elimination diet or take her to a vet to get an allergy test done. Avoid any food brands that contain corn, corn gluten meal, by-products, food coloring, nasty preservatives, and things you can’t pronounce. The first few ingredients should be meat or meat meal (i.e. chicken, turkey meal, etc). Make sure there aren’t too many grains (i.e. wheat, barley, oats, whatever) in the ingredient list.

Some great foods are:
Canidae
Wellness
Nature’s Variety
Orijen
Solid Gold
Timberwolf Organics
Innova
Innova EVO
California Natural
Taste of the Wild

ETA
You’re not limited to just egg whites. Whole eggs are completely fine. I feed my dog 2 raw eggs a week.

ETA2
I’d avoid cod liver oil. It’s extremely rich in vitamin A and it’s easy to overdose, which can be dangerous. Stick to pure fish oil such as salmon oil.

Does this sound like a good skin care regimen?

Posted by admin on Oct 6, 2009

1.500 mg vitamin c pill.
2. Clean and Clear scrub,cleanser,toner.
3.Garnier Light Cream

Does sound like a good skin care regimen?

Don’t use a cleanser (exfoliant) every day if it’s just a face wash, sure.

It sounds good – skin care is so individual the best advice is a solid face wash, toner and natural cream – (no mineral oils).

Vitamins a e and c are all good for clear skin.
