How can garden fresh aloe vera leaves be used as skin care element?

i hav many aloe vera plant in my hoese.i v seen dat many cosmetics company now a days use aloe vera extract as an ingredient of their products.i want to know if their is any way to use them directly?wat r their results?
use the gel out of the biggest outside leaves
break off a stalk and use the gel inside directly on your skin. great for burns etc. just rub it on whenever

Cutting off one of the older leaves toward the base of the plant, then when you take it in to the house trim off the edges of the leaf because they are sharp. Then as you use it you can then cut off a piece. You can even break up the leaf in to smaller pieces. To make sure that the gel stays working well put the leaf on a piece of paper towel and on a plate and then put it in the fridge. The cold keeps the gel working good.
Aloe vera is very, very good for burns as the first poster said. This is why sometimes in some products you will see it combined with Vitamin E because they are both very good healing agents.
