My skin is so confusing?

Posted by admin on Nov 14, 2009

I have very serious acne on cheeks, chin, jaw area, forehead… basically my whole face. Whenever I use salicylic/acne products, my face (especially nose and mouth ares) get dry and discolored like leather. I go through a pattern- i use acne products fo about 3 weeks then stop because skin so dry. takes about 2 weeks of intense aloe vera care for skin to return to normal but then acne returns and I do this over and over again. What do I do???????? so frustrated. I went to dermatologist but I just got pimple cream and pills for $200 dollars and that didn’t work.
I am a vegan health nut so acne can’t be coming from what i eat. i also drink lots of water

Acne doesn’t come from what you eat however a persons diet can worsen acne if already afflicted. If it is serious cystic acne your dermatologist may recommend you try Accutane. It has some pretty serious side effects, but it works a majority of the time and usually only takes one prescription worth. If it isn’t that serious they may put you on antibiotics such as minocycline, doxcycline, co-trimoxazole(Bactrim). I am assuming you’re on one of the previously mentioned.

There is no universal drug for treating acne, different medicines work for different people. Most dermatologists will regularly change prescriptions until they find a drug that works. If all else fails they may resort to accutane.

Unfortunately dry skin is a side effect of pretty much any drug. To counter that you can purchase lotions at any drug store that are geared towards acne and dry skin.

If you feel your dermatologist isn’t doing enough to help you I suggest you find another.

On a final note do not take any prescriptions that are not prescribed. Also be careful about the medical advice you get on yahoo, don’t ever take drugs suggested to you by Yahoo people, unless it is confirmed and prescribed by a doctor.
Good Luck

Is the brand Organic Wear a good organic make up brand?

Posted by admin on Nov 14, 2009

I came across this site http://www.organicwearmakeup.com while searching for organic make up products. I’ve never used organic make up before because I don’t know if it has better coverage than the other known make up brands (ie Mac, L’oreal, Cover girl, etc). I heard about minerals make up from a friend and I thought I could start using that too. Although Im not sure if they really are good for the skin and the environment as they claim to be. What do you guys think?

organic makeup is gentler on the skin, and better for the environment. Or at least they are a lot better than comon drugstore makeup products.

however, there are some types of makeup that are easily made organic, and others that aren’t as good. Powders like powdered blushes, bronzers, and foundation work well. I didn’t think the mascaras would be that good, but I bought a tube of the loreal bare naturale mascara and I love it, it has the same effect while making my eyelashes soft.

but things like cream concealers and eyeshadows aren’t a great choice for organic products, they don’t blend as well and can get cakey.

Posted by admin on Nov 4, 2009

Please just tell me if this is a good natural skin care regimen using all homemade products. Please do not suggest other products that you buy.
Morning:
Wash face with baking soda/water
Tone with diluted apple cider vinegar
Moisturize with aloe vera

Night:
Honey/Cinnamon face mask (60 minutes/raw honey)
Wash with baking soda/water
Tone with diluted apple cider vinegar
Moisturize with aloe vera

Thanks for your help!

It looks like it could be beneficial but I think you are missing out on some natural ingredient skin care products. My wife said to give you the article below that may be of help. It has some nice home remedy ingredients and the website that you probably should check out. I, being a man, get my natural skin care products from the same place my wife does. They really work because the ingredients are safe and natural. Anyway they can tell you much more than I can.

4 Home Remedy Ingredients for Wrinkle Smoothing

A home remedy for wrinkles is found in practically every culture in the world . What if you could find a homemade wrinkle smoother that combined the effective components of all of these remedies? Yes, you can. Just keep reading to find all 4 ingredients and how they are combined to smooth out your wrinkles.

There’s a simple reason that a different group of people would have a different home remedy for wrinkles. They used the things that grew near their homes. They didn’t have access to the entire world, as we do today.

If you lived in Japan, you couldn’t use a homemade wrinkle smoother that contained jojoba, because it only grows in the Americas. If you lived in the Americas, your home remedy for wrinkles would not contain Wakame Kelp, because it mostly grows in the Sea of Japan. You get the point.

Through scientific evaluation and clinical studies, researchers have found the active components in numerous traditional wrinkle remedies. They have combined these effective components and studied their effects on the faces of volunteers. Here’s what they’ve learned.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a favorite homemade wrinkle smoother in Mediterranean areas. Scientific evaluation has shown that the oil is very similar to Human sebum, the skin’s natural oil. If you use olive oil designed for cooking, you may get a greasy, rather than a smooth filling. Properly formulated creams will penetrate deeply, hydrating, without causing greasiness.

Manuka Honey

Honey is a popular homemade wrinkle smoother in most areas of the world. Wherever you find bees you find honey. Over the years, honey has been used to treat everything from sore throat to skin injuries and infections.

Recent research has shown that enzymes in honey have antioxidant and antibacterial activity. It’s the antioxidant activity that allows it to reduce wrinkling and fine lines. Antioxidants repair free radical damage, the cause of wrinkling, sagging and a generally older looking appearance.

Researchers have found that manuka honey, from New Zealand, is the most active variety. Now, you can even find manuka honey bars, a natural alternative to antibacterial soaps.

Wakame Kelp

That’s the Japanese home remedy for wrinkles that I mentioned earlier. Evaluation of the kelp has shown that it is rich in the nutrients that support the skin’s health; vitamin A, many of the B vitamins and calcium for example. Further studies have shown that creams containing the kelp extract work to increase levels of hyaluronic acid, an amino acid responsible for the skin’s firmness.

Jojoba Oil

Traditional, it was used by Native Americans to heal wounds and fade scars. Eventually, it was used as a homemade wrinkle smoother, because wrinkles and scar tissue are similar. What works to fade a scar or a stretch mark, will also fade a fine line or wrinkle. The oil is rich in vitamin E, an important antioxidant for the skin’s health.

You could choose just one home remedy for wrinkles, but why not use them all. There are many other effective remedies and when combined, they become even more effective. They are also quite safe and completely natural. And now for more information on wrinkles please see the website listed below.

Is there any natural treatments for smooth skin?

Posted by admin on Nov 4, 2009

ya know natural stuff… like something in the kitchen that you never knew about that can help your skin alot?

jw

Honestly, this is going to sound really weird, but oatmeal is a natural source to get super smooth skin. Try it tonight, make a bowl of plain oatmeal, put it on you face for about 5-8 minutes. It gives you the smoothest softest skin ever!
I do this once a week to keep my skin silky smooth. Cleanse your face with warm water and rub the oatmeal on, lay down and read a magazine for a few minutes. You’ll be able to tell a difference right away.
